the focus on memes in the queer community addresses the various musical and iconic figures stemming from this subculture. as previously mentioned, twitter and instagram are the homes to many queer safe spaces and has therefore been a source of creative humorous expressions. memes stretch out from reaction images to distortions with cryptic inside-jokes and more. the mass-production of these shared materials may lead to misunderstandings and harmful jokes, leading to group discussions and educational youtube videos addressing specific memes. embracing religious motifs in an ironic manner and referencing various drag or topmodel shows are only one of the few elements the queer community aim to enhance. the various styles of meme formats is not a coincidence as it often lies on generational gaps (as little as they may be) that are inevitable due to the continuous and rapid development of meme culture in general.
